Dragon Nest OBT Review

E-mail Print PDF

mainDragon Nest Open Beta Review has arrived! After playing this game non stop last week, I have come to a conclusion that Dragon Nest will be a hit when it ports to the states this 2011. Dragon Nest has gone through a lot of changes and big improvements from the previous versions of the game. Comparing the old Dragon Nest from before to the current version of Dragon Nest, is like comparing a piece of rock to a huge boulder. The recent update for Dragon Nest is also filled with lots of goodies for new and players who have hit the level 24 cap (current max cap of level 32) , soon to be level 40 cap.

Dragon Nest Online Advance Jobs

There isn't really much distinctive unique features that Dragon Nest has to offer compared to all the other MOARPG's out in the current online Korean market. But if had to point out some of the features that I love about this game, then it would be the combo system where you can go crazy with skills and spells. The questing system is real plus for players who can't read Korean at all. The story has some humorous twists, cool looking cut-scenes with Dragon Ball like fighting. Honestly, the game reminds me a lot of Continent of the Ninth. If you have played that game, then you will surely enjoy Dragon Nest. Let's get down to the meat of this review shall we?

Quests and Missions

You will probably love the user-friendly quest system that Dragon Nest Online has to offer. Even if you can't read Korean, the in-game quest system points you to the right direction. These helpful arrows help you find items you need to collect or dungeons where you need to be for that certain quest. It's so simple, even my 8-yo cousin can play the game with out problems. Quests are a good way to gain fast experience points, so make sure you don't skip any! After you have run out of quests in town, you can proceed to the quest board next to each dungeon. Upon completion of all the quests from the quest boards available outside of each dungeon, you should be close to your level. There are a lot of towns in Dragon Nest Online so you won't be going back to the same town over and over like Mabinogi Heroes. Just keep rocking those Hero Story Missions and the next thing you know, you will be in a brand new town grinding new dungeons.

Graphics and Feel

The graphics are so-so there are times when the game looks extremely nice due to the mass amount of lightning particles floating around everywhere. Sometimes there are maps that lack a little color or looks poorly done. Other than having a few maps with small bad flaws all the other dungeons have their own unique fill. You won't be going through the same old maps over and over and you have a wide variety of dungeon to grind on every two-three levels so there isn't a lot of dungeon spamming. There really isn't much graphics customization which was kind of a let down, other than the fact you could change the settings from low to high and resolution changes. The only thing that probably bothered me the most about Dragon Nest Online, is the fact that your armor doesn't change when you equip your higher level gear. This forces you to purchase cash shop outfits, or pick a really nice starting outfit so that your character doesn't look like a noob later on. Dragon Nest aims for fast-paced Action MORPG and by having these kinds of settings for it's graphics and engine use, they seem to deliver it fabulously.

Sound

The sound and voices are pretty awesome in Dragon Nest Online. They fit their characters very well. Even after hearing my character say "Lighting Bolt" a thousand times, I can never seem to get tired of it. All the skills in Dragon Nest are voiced, so your character will say the spell or skill then execute the move shortly after. That's not the only thing that is voiced in Dragon Nest Online though. Town NPC's and story line quests are fully voiced so you can enjoy, laugh, cry, and rage at the ingame cut-scenes. And I just remembered, I really hate one of the voices of the NPC's in the storyline mission. He is supposed to be a dark lord evil gloomy person, but he sounds more of a some cheesy nerd.
