Mabinogi Heroes also known as Vindictus has been in Open Beta for quite awhile now and I have been hardcore playing it during my spare time. Devcat sure took a big leap with the new updates for Mabinogi Heroes. I'm pretty amazed at how much the game has improved since the last time I played it during last years first CBT. Mabinogi Heroes is pretty "hardcore" with all the blood and crazy boss fights, but hardcore gamers may find themselves farming the same maps over and over until new content is released. It may get tedious enough to remind you of farming Ciar Advance repeatedly, if you played the original Mabinogi. Just like all my other reviews, get ready for an hour and over worth of gameplay videos of the new and old content of Mabinogi Heroes. This review is packing with lots of videos, you've been warned it may take awhile for your page to load!

However this does not stop Mabinogi Heroes from being really awesome. Nexon seems to be doing a good job on keeping their customers happy with constant game updates. Or maybe this is their re-numeration next to the constant server checks that they have daily. Anyway, as many of you may know they have introduced a new character named Evy. Evy is the star of this review, so you will see a lot of videos of me playing her. With the current cap set at level 22 there are only a few end game raids available until new content is released.

Party/Dungeon System
Everything in-game is pretty much instance based but I am pretty sure that won't stop you from loving this game as much as I do. The only flaw Mabinogi Heroes have is the party system. I believe the party system in Mabinogi Heroes works like this. The leader of the party is the host of the game, thus your connection will vary depending on the hosts connection. If the host disconnects during a dungeon then your party disconnects along with it. This usually isn't the problem when partying with others though, since it's rare for some one to DC during a run. The max amount of players for a normal party is four. Unless you are doing raids of course, raids can go up to a max of 8 players in one party. Most of the dungeons in game also has differen't game modes. These game modes can vary for example there are modes with potions disabled, hard mode, no res feathers, don't break more than 10 pieces of armor, no deaths. Thus if you tend to fail a lot, you should just stick to normal mode. Of course, if you or your friends are pro enough. They can carry for the party, since all the bosses in Mabinogi Heroes can be solo'ed with the proper skill.

Quest/Story System
Quests are pretty simple and easy once you figure out the basics of how it works. Most of the quests in game involve collecting specific items, achieving 100PT's in a mission, killing a specific boss, crafting specific items, and talking to NPC's around town. Since Mabinogi Heroes only has one main town at the moment questing in this game isn't so hectic, specially for players who don't understand a word of Korean. Story isn't as great as the original Mabinogi happy go series but you will love the cutscenes, if you want to see one of the story characters die then check out the video below other wise skip it. You have been warned of spoilers but you probably don't care since you are reading this weird review.

Graphics and Sound
Mabinogi Heroes isn't exactly your next generation in graphics, but it does make use of the Source Engine fully. The game looks really good on max settings. The best thing about Mabinogi Heroes is everything shows visually. For example, if your armor breaks during a dungeon it will graphically show up on your character avatar. After you break most of your armor, your character will end up bearing all skin in their undergarments(keep it in your pants boys). There is also a built in in-game recording system where you can create and record your own videos without using any other external programs. Some dungeons may look a bit similar and repetitive but that shouldn't stop you from enjoying the game. Nothing out of place for sound, you may even notice a bunch of the sounds from the original Mabinogi beefed up in HD. There are no fancy BGM music or any music at all when you are dungeoning, so expect everything to be serious and quiet until you hit the mini boss or boss room. There are only handful of boss BGM so it can get quite annoying after awhile, good thing you can change the BGM for bosses in the main Sound folder of Mabinogi Heroes.
