Norn Saber just came out a few days ago and I have just got my hands on it! I never expected this game to be this good judging from the screenshots but I found myself hooked and playing it all night long with a couple of friends. Get ready for the super long review of Norn Saber Online.
Tactics Gameplay
The story of the game is like your average Hentai Game kids please don't go around googling what that means =P. I installed Japanese voices in game that came separately with the client from their main site so I can understand what is going on with the story. You start the game by picking either a male or female avatar in my case I picked a female like I always do in every game. This game favors towards more to males though in my opinion with the amount of female characters you meet inside, it's like your own harem anime h-game all over again. But having a girl as a main character isn't so bad I mean everyone in your team calls you "oneechan^^" meaning elder sister. Anyway, the game starts you off inside a dream and a pretty girl talking to you in Japanese voice telling you that you are the chosen one and that you are the only hope. From here on this is where your adventure starts the minute you step out of your house you get attacked by a bunch of Gundams... oh I mean Mechas. Three versus one so not fair but it's ok you have a trump card. You can use Trans-AM ops I mean power up and own them all instantly which I found very amusing. Anyway, the story is very good almost fully voiced in Japanese but all the texts are in Chinese.
Story Mode Scene 01
You may not like the game at first but give it a chance and spend more time doing other things you never know you may find yourself hooked like me. The game features a lot of "AUTO" system which helps those who can't understand any form of Chinese to enjoy the game. On the bottom right of your screen there is a icon labeled "Stage". This is your story mode mission if you click on that then the green check mark in mission list you can auto run to your next mission. Nifty feature that helped me a lot since I am busy person.
Auto Mode is Handy!
What makes this game unique is the gameplay and battle system. Most games looked like this won't survive very long out there compared to all eye candy RPG's out there. The gameplay is a mix of Final Fantasy Tactics, Suikoden, and Advanced Wars. Most MMO's have you playing one character but this game introduces a partner system similar to Wonderland Online. You get one partner that you can drag along with you anywhere to help your main character. There are a lot of "hidden" characters or mercenaries that you can find other than main story characters as a partner. For example my favorite partner right now that I am using is a Loli Cat Beastmen in a Maid Uniform. "..." There is also a Fox Beastmen creature type of girl that looks very sexy, her transformation turns her into a nine tail fox.
