Valkyrie Sky takes Shoot Em Up games to a next level adding online play, questing, grinding, and many other things. Having trouble believing what I say? Come check out the full review coverage of Valkyrie Sky, one of the most unique online games this year! Just a little reminder that this game will be Open Beta this week also gogogo!

Solo Playing!
Valkyrie Sky is a really fun game and a nice change for people who are bored with your average same old MMO type of games. You will have to be open minded with this game though because the gameplay is a little different. If you have played Tohou, Raiden, and Galaga and liked it then this game is for you! Most of the media in this review will be videos because they are better than pictures and you can see the flow of the game.
There are four main characters to pick from with three sets of jobs each. Each job has a total of four skills some really good and some ultra useless. If you are new to these type game genre then I would suggest picking the Knight and Mage type classes since they pretty easy to use. Knights are good for parties since a lot of groups are interested in a front line that will protect them bullets.
Job Preview!
Now that you've seen the job classes it's time to explain the skill system. There is a system in-game kind of like a fusion system where you can arrange your skills on a box and they can form passive skills. These passive skills are really helpful because some of them give your normal attacks extra chances to shoot more bullets. You can also change jobs ingame anytime you want as long as you have the certain requirement stats and pay the gold fee. Job changing is very important in this game if you want to make use of the skill fusion system. Once you job change you can not raise the skills of your previous job but you can still add those skills on the fusion chart. Quests in this game area all in one area and easy so you don't have to worry much about them!
Questing and Skill Combine!
After making your character there is a short tutorial that you can do or skip. You don't really miss out on anything if you skip the tutorial other than knowing how to play. Before you start a mission there are a couple quests you can do inside the Council area on the upper left side of the starting town. You can keep talking to these guys until you level up to level two or something. After you pick up all your quests you hold down right click or spacebar and your character will fly up to the world map. The world map has a lot of icons on the map but the ones you need to know are the skull maps. These maps are dungeon maps and can only be unlocked by reaching certain levels.
Flying Around World Map
After reaching a skull map you can meet up with your friends in that area or if they aren't on the same channel as you press "P" to bring up the players menu type your friends name and click the button next to where you typed his name. Or if you guys are next to each other just click on his name on the "P" players menu then it will auto invite him to join the party. The default controls are Z for normal attack A,S,D,F for your skills which key you ever set them to. Arrow keys to move around the map X for berserk mode and spacebar for bomb or special power up!
Party Group 01
The first two areas are very easy to do and may bore you to death. Don't fret though wait until you get to the fourth and fifth areas that's where all the fun starts. Bullets and Monsters coming at every corner I could only imagine what it will be like at the final areas. If you still think the game is to easy after the third stages try soloing them without dying. For those of you worrying about lag problems there isn't really any lag at all when playing with players around the world. The company did a very good job with the lag system in this game that you don't have to worry about dying to bullets in lag. They use some kind of sync system that syncs players in the room. Only downfall of this system is sometimes when you are out of sync for boss fights the person out of sync may need to drop the game so that the others may finish. This usually almost never happened when I played with a couple friends from US, TW, JP, and KO.
Party Group 02
Now let's talk about what sucks in this game! You use up stamina every time you start a stage and the costs of each stage changes depending on what time of the day it is. Stages cost less stamina during the morning but at night they cost as much as life insurance. No one really does stages at night time in game unless they have a lot of food. You can only replenish stamina by cooking meals or monsters dropping food at the end of stages. To cook food you must go fishing and fish up a main ingredient then the rest of the salt and spices can be obtained from your average dungeon NPC. Though in the recent patch for OB they have made changes to this system lets hope it's for the better^^.
Chef Masta!
Fishing Queen!
Auction House system makes things like shopping a little easier and there is also a Blacksmith in town if you ever feel like crafting items. The game is pretty simple and easy to play after you get the hang of it even the cooking system doesn't take much brain power. The game is fully playable and enjoyable without knowing the Korean language specially if you drag your friends along with you!
Don't know how many times I have said this in my reviews but I hate not being able to play games in higher resolutions and this game is one of them. Other than that this game seems really good I will play this game in Open Beta for sure! Thanks for reading!
