Alliance of Valiant Arms Online is definitely staying on my computer for awhile. It's been a long time since I have played a very good FPS game. Playing AVA brings back good memories of Counter-Strike 1.6 addiction. AVA Online has a lot of replay value and lots of achievements you can unlock. I would recommend this game to anyone is looking to try a new FPS game for many reasons find out why!
This review will only cover the Japanese version for I have not played any of the other language releases. Since it's a FPS game there only quite a few aspects I will go into detail. First thing is first I will explain the different game modes there are.
Annihilation - The second most popular mode you will probably be seeing played is going to be either Team Death Match in which both teams respawn endlessly. Your typical TDM type of game that is nothing special to it. Very good if you don't enjoy being dead for a long time while waiting for rounds to restart.
Transport - This is the less popular mode because it only has two maps for it at the moment. In Transport Mode the (NRF) team has to prevent the retrieval of the Nuclear Suitcase from the opposing team (EU). Almost the same concept as hostage retrieval except a bit more simpler. If you die, you will have to wait until the round is over.
Escort - Nope, you won't be escorting some important person in this mode. The objective of this game mode is to escort your tank to a specific location on the map. There are only two rounds in this game mode both teams will get a chance to escort their tank. Whichever team (NRF) or (EU) gets their tank the furthest wins. The escorting team must repair and keep the tank maintained until it reaches the objective while being very offensive at the same time to keep their tanks from being RPG by the defending team. Both teams respawn endlessly until the round is over.

Demolition - This would be the most popular game mode currently in Japan AVA. This mode plays just like Counter-Strike. If you die you you will have to end up waiting until the round is over. The (NRF) must plant the bomb in one of the two locations provided in the map. Winning a round depends on successfully eliminating the opposing team, bombing a site, and defusing the bomb.

Weapons and Classes
Every time you die or about to respawn/start a new round you can press F1-F3 to pick your preloaded job classes in any game mode. For example if you are playing an Escort mission and you press F1 on your next respawn you can load out as Pointman which specializes in closed range combat. If you find yourself getting sniped a lot then, upon your next death you can press F2 to load out as Rifleman or F3 as a Sniper. Just make sure you load the right gun you customized in your inventory before you start a game because you can not change guns once you are ingame only classes.
Commander - Randomly given to anyone ingame. They are in charge of scouting enemy objectives revealing where enemies are hidden with their special binoculars.
Sniper - The long range class basically three four starting rifles you can play around with until you reach the higher level then you can purchase the more deadly and powerful guns. SV98 is a perfect choice for starting snipers. After you are high level enough the two top sniper guns is the TPG1 which is the most powerful sniper rifle in game next to Dragunov SVD. The Dragunov SVD is a rapid fire sniper rifle good for mid to long range fighting.
Rifleman - The best class to use if you have superior accuracy you have a wide variety of guns you can use ranging from AK series weapons to the classic M-type weapons. Some of the rifles are fully customizable while some guns aren't like the AK47 which is already powerful enough as it is.
Pointman - The master of close combat! This class is just pure awesome if you love to spray or blow people up with shotguns. I find myself using this class a lot in very small maps or areas with a lot of walls. A very fun class to load out if you know where you are going and have a good idea when to spray!
Then the last thing is accessories and armor but they don't really do much or give advantage to players. The game is very even and higher level players don't dominate the newbie chicks unless they are really pro. It's good to keep those empty slots equip with random stuff that doesn't really make much of a difference.
The best part about AVA online is the graphics everything runs very smoothly games load super fast just as long as no one lags. My friends rarely lag when playing from outside of Japan and there is no IP block. Best played in Nvidia fully customizable graphics settings Anti-Aliasing super high HD resolutions and more.
Sound Audio is just amazing you can change the game to either full Japanese audio or you can have a mix of both English, Japanese, And Russian which may sound weird if you watched any of the videos from above. If you are low hp your characters voice commands will be in agony if someone dies near you like the commander your char will auto voice it. Throwing grenades and reloading are voiced so you can cover your team easily if they need your back. In the end the game is pretty fun to play specially if you got a lot of friends to try it out with you. Registering for the Japanese version is fairly simple and easy. You can use google translate if you get stuck or what not.
