We all know that I don't like taking the weekends off every time there is a big game going on! With that said, the 2nd Phantasy Star Online 2 Alpha 2 Test Preview is now online for your viewing pleasure. To switch things up a little bit, I decided to create and play a new character. In today's preview, I will be playing as a Newman Ranger! The second test session was a lot popular compared to previous one, probably because it is the weekend. The amount of players playing seemed to have doubled and SEGA of Japan had to close off new character creation in one of the servers!
Phantasy Star Online 2 Alpha2 Test Initiate Code Duel
It's a good thing that I decided to try out the Ranger class yesterday because of the crazy lag going on in the test servers. According to SEGA the maximum amount of users that connected to their servers exceeded their expectations, the two servers only supported 23,000 users at once. They had a lot more than 23k users logged in at once, which explains the crazy lag and spikes going on. I am really surprised that the two servers held out during the whole testing phase. SEGA never took down the servers for maintenance at least not the server I was on.
Elimination Quest and Killing Stuff
I'm not exactly the best Ranger in the world but this class is really easy to play. There was only one type of gun available in Phantasy Star Online 2 Alpha 2 Test and that was the Assault Rifle. The assault rifle fires burst shots per left mouse button click, after pressing the LMB three times it will automatically reload. I've always enjoyed playing FPS/TPS games, so playing the ranger class was a lot of fun for me. I often pressed the "Z key" to automatically switch to the over shoulder third person mode with a cross hair. Aiming in this mode a lot easier, especially when it comes to shooting monsters at their weak spots. The "Q key" is also useful, which makes me auto lock on to a certain monster the ultimate button for lazy mode.
Party Boss Fight
The current PSO2 A2 build only had three Photon Arts for my Rifle which were piercing shot, grenade shot, and one point. Out of the three, I found the grenade shot to be one the most useful Photon Arts because of it's AOE and the ability to stun monsters. Other than the useful stun the grenade shot can also knock monsters off their balance and reveal their weak points. When a monster falls to the ground, I am then able to shoot their weak points that normally can't be seen or targeted when they are standing up. Some of you are probably wondering why my weapon looks a little bit weird. I am using seven star grade Yasminkov 3000R assault rifle in most of my videos, which is easily recognizable by any hardcore Phantasy Star player.
