Netmarble Korea recently had an alpha test session for their new upcoming game called Pico Online. For those of you who aren't aware of this game yet, it is an upcoming non-targeting MMORPG. I've only got small taste of Pico Online but during that time, I already know that I will definitely be signing up for the next testing phase. Although the characters didn't look all that appealing, the gameplay was quite fun and exciting. It almost reminded me of playing my favorite Japanese old school Y's series by Falcom.
Character Creation
There four playable classes are Swordsman, Mage, Cleric, and Archer. The characters are gender locked which doesn't seem to be problem, but it does have it's flaws. Ok, let's be honest. First of all, I didn't like how all the characters looked like a girl. In fact, I couldn't even tell which one was character was male or female without staring at their chest. Actually, that didn't really help either. I hope they put more effort in providing a much more detailed character creation style. Unless, they are thinking of adding more customization through cash shop. Then this character creation is a bit more acceptable. That wasn't the best character creation we have seen, but it's Alpha Test right? If the developers do decide to read this, please make the faces look more anime'ish. Maybe it's just me, troll me if you wish.
Pico Online Alpha Newbie Gameplay
Pico's gameplay is awesome, since I am a big fan of the Y's series I pretty much enjoyed every bit of it. Most of the maps are non-instanced based kind of like Dragonica Online, the only part the was instanced are the boss rooms. I didn't really get far but that's the only thing I noticed so far. Honestly, I can't really give much preview other than a newbie one! You can jump in Pico Online, so that's a big plus. Not just your ordinary normal jump, but you can also DOUBLE Jump oooOoOoo.
Pico Online Alpha Running Around
If there was anything I loved about the alpha test other than the awesome gameplay, it would have to be the music. I really thought that the game had awesome BGM tracks, unlike those games that put crazy hard rock music to a bunny game or something. As you can see, for a game being in it's alpha test the game is looking pretty good. I wish, that I could have advanced further to show you guys a couple boss fights, but you will have to wait until next time.

... I'm liking this game, but is there anything stopping you from simply running past all the enemies? If not, there better be a race mode  The music is great for a cave area. I've heard music like it before, but I just cant place where I heard it. |
