Steparu's Best of 2009 week is here! There are a lot of games that came out in the year 2009 that I have tested Open and Closed Beta. This list will contain mostly foreign online games with a mix of some games that are also out in English. Think you have missed a game in the year 2009 that was worth trying out? Check out Steparu's top three Best of 2009 Online games that's a must try, when you get the chance. Are you a shoot to kill type of person? A lot of awesome foreign FPS and TPS games were released in the year 2009. I had a lot of trouble compiling which ones would win for the top three.
1st Place - Metal Rage / Tekki
Metal Rage also known as Tekki would have to be the best TPS/FPS in the year 2009. It's been a long time since an awesome mecha TPS game has come out with superb graphics and unit customization. Metal Rage was ported over to Japan late last year. Due to it's popular demand in Japan most of the servers were all full during the first few weeks of the Japan release date. Sadly to say, that both the Korean and Japanese version have IP blocks to players who does not reside in their country. Foreign gamers must wait for another version that will be IP block free.

2nd Place - Another Day
The fast paced FPS Another Day wins 2nd place! If you're looking for an online FPS games that packs everything into one then this is the game for you. The game has it all from cloaking, wall jumping, boost jumping, side jumping, knife blast jumping, jet packing, and many more. You will need to have fast fingers on your keyboard and to actually survive this game. If you are an Unreal Tournament player then you should have no problems adjusting to the controls and hopping around with sidestep and such.

3rd Place - Warcry
The uniqueness of Warcry saves itself from being booted out of the top three of Steparu's Best of 2009 picks. There are a lot of FPS/TPS games out there that heavily focus on the theme of guns and such. On the other hand, in Warcry Online you are able to use different types of weapons depending on the character you use. These weapons ranges from Dual Axes, Chakrams, Claws, Huge Hammers, and etc. Not only are you limited to using melee weapons, each class can also magic. Last type of weapons of course are the guns for players who are just trigger happy.

4th Place - Hessian
Hessian is an upcoming realistic military TPS game that uses Unreal Engine 3. Hessian Online makes use of it's TPS aspect of the game to it's fullest capacity, just like Gears of War did. You can hide behind walls and shoot blindly by sticking your gun out of the corner. Taking cover and shooting is the best I can describe Hessian Online. It's also fast paced and full of surprises because running around too much, in this type of game can get you killed. Specially to those crazy campers who just camp behind walls, buildings, and obstacles.

5th Place - Alliance of Valiant Arms
Alliance of Valiant Arms has been out for awhile. AVA was pretty much successful in Korea and ported quickly over to Japan mid 2009. Shortly after being ported over to Japan it was ported to USA. I was pretty addicted to AVA Japanese version for awhile, but since it's out in English now you can try it out without worrying about the language barrier. If you ran out of FPS games to try out I would recommend AVA, it should be a good few months to burn time in.
